NOTD: Toma Tapestry

Pin It Now!
On to the nail stuff!

Today I want to show you some nail polishes you can't get anymore.  Why would I do that to you? Because I can, ha! Ok, not really, it's because I keep finding these crazy nail polishes in dusties that aren't widely available anymore and before I buy, I try to find swatches and there's normally nada out there.  So really I hope to post these to help some other girl out there like me, looking for swatches.

Here are the 3 Toma nail lacquers I picked up recently, really out of curiosity.

L-R-> Ruby Slippers 131, Chermuesse 169, Tapestry 168

Today I'll show you Toma Tapestry 168 and the reason I'm doing is because of a thing the girls are doing on MUA, a daily challenge type of thing, todays is a Vampire theme.  I don't normally like red on me and don't wear it much but this is an exception, this polish reminded me of blood, in a good way.

I used 3 coats for this mani and I must say I was impressed with the formula of it.  For a dark red/burgundy with golden shimmer in it, it went on smoothly and didn't stain my skin.

All photos are taken on a cloudy day

Lastly here is a failed 'nad attempt.  I wanted to add a little something Vampire inspired, was thinking of lace or barbed wires (?) and let's just say I wasn't really feeling it, so did only 2 fingers, then gave up.  Maybe a different colour? Ah well, not all designs are winners.

All in all, I like this polish and will probably wear it again. If anyone out there knows anything about Toma nail lacquer, please let me know, I welcome the info.

Till next time!

  1. I am LOVING the stamp with that polish. They seem made for each other!

  2. thenailaholic - Really? I was thinking maybe the design should be done in black? Something about this one doesn't work for me. Maybe because I hurried it and it came out crooked, just not sure...so annoying when the idea in my head doesn't work on the nail.

  3. I agree, the stamping looks great. It's probably easier for us to say because you had an idea of how you wanted it to look, but we didn't. But I really truly like it!

  4. I love the old Toma polishes. I always seem to find them at dusties in a $1 bin, lol.

  6. Laura - maybe I gave up on this one too quickly once I saw it go on crooked... I mean, I did 3 coats of the Toma polish and really didn't want to have to do it over to get it right. I find that unless you do a top coat prior to the stamping, if you make a mistake, you have to do it over and it takes so long. I'm impatient!

  7. Sirena Sparklestar - finally someone else who's found them! Which colours do you have? Have you found any swatches of them online? It seems impossible.

  8. Lindsey - I swatched it already, so you'll see it in a few days.

  9. I have swatches of a few Tomas on my blog and one for sale at my store. I love everyone that I've tired. Sadly the company no longer exists!

  10. April - I'll have to check out what you have and thank you for the info. I guess this means that if I see any Toma colours out there that I like, I will have to get them.

  11. Toma had some awesome colors, it's a shame they don't exist anymore. I have one blue/teal "Mood changing" one that once was a color-changer, but no more. It's gorgeous though! If you get a change, check out swatches of "Milky Way." *sigh* Sooo lovely!

  12. @Honey Bomb I saw some mood changing ones before but I've heard of other girls that the old ones don't work so I didn't bother buying them.

  14. TOMA definitely still exist, I won a new collection set earlier this year. I was almost expecting it to be an entirely different company with the same name, but identical design to yours. They seem to be a UK based company, but no-one I know here has heard of them either.

Nailtopia has some more info. http://www.nailtopia.co.uk/pages/Learn-more-about...Toma.html

And the set I've got... http://www.nailtopia.co.uk/categories/Nail-varnish-and-treatments/Toma-nail-polish/Club-Nights-%28new-for-summer-2012%21%29/ (Pacha & Vibe are outstanding)
