Large Stamping Plate #B

Pin It Now!
Waaahoooo!

I've finally received my Large Nail Stamping Plate (#B) from a seller on eBay.  For those who know, this is NOT a Konad plate but a close dupe, a Fauxnad plate as some call it.  Most stamping plates are sold in small sizes, either round or octagon shape (about 15mm), which normally have about 6 to 9 designs on them; this plate has a whopping 221 designs all in one place! Oh, the possibilities!

The Konad (Demo) plate that I've been eyeing on eBay goes for as much as $175 (CAN) but I find this to be overpriced, so I went for this one, spending $26.50 (CAN) including shipping.  I simply couldn't pass up this deal and I must say, so far I'm impressed.  The seller had it triple bubble wrapped so that the plate would arrive undamaged and it in fact is in perfect condition.

This is what it looks like with the protective blue plastic still on it. The small scratches are simply in the plastic, not the plate itself.  Many of the designs are that of an official Konad plate, which makes me happy 'cause it means that I won't have to shell out the big bucks.

In order to reveal the plate itself, the plastic has to be peeled off.

Size is 31.5 cm x 26.5 cm (or 12.4 x 10.4 inches) and it has a dark blue plastic backing on it, ensuring the plate doesn't bend or slide.  The designs vary in size and have nice crisp lines; I think they will turn out well.

I've purchased other non major brand plates before but they had shoddy work to them, resulting in 'muddy' looking designs.  What I mean is that these plates are stainless steel and the designs are laser cut into them, making small grooved designs.  Some companies somehow manage to screw up this process and make plates with the cuts too shallow or 'fat' so that what you end up with on your nail looks like something a child would have slapped on.  So far this plate looks like the designs will turn out nice and crisp!

I hope to find some time to try this baby out soon.  I've been using the small plates for about 2 years now and have been lusting after a big one like this for a while.  Any questions, please ask.

NOTD: Color Club Pretty In Platinum snake print design

Pin It Now!
On to the nail stuff!

Today I decided to try one of my BM (Bundle Monster) plates to do a snake print design, it's plate BM-224 to be exact, from their newest set (or set 2 as some are calling it).  The nail polish base colour is Color Club Pretty In Platinum and yes I did forget to swatch it alone, I think I was too excited to do the design.  The colours used for the design are Wet 'n Wild Black Creme and Color Club Snakeskin.  Ha how appropriate!

Artificial light

In the sun

I do plan on doing this mani over with the colours maybe being reversed, so that it looks even more like snake skin or just different snake skin; I must do some snake skin research first. I did get a lot of comments from random people when I had this mani on so I can't wait to hear what people will have to say when I perfect the look!

EDIT: This mani ended up on Color Club's Facebook Wall as a comparison with a mani that has real snake skin on it, check it out here-->  Color Club FB Wall

Hello Cyberworld - It's about time!

Pin It Now!
I have decided to finally start my blog.  I know there are many others out there, but this one's mine.  It is here for me to post swatches of nail polishes I have, nail art I have done and maybe some random ranting resulting in exchange of ideas.

To start with, I'd like to show a franken polish I made the other night.  I'd love to have the ever beautiful Nfu-Oh 51 but it's not one that I can splurge on right now, so I tried to make my own and here are the results:

Above are the polishes I used to make the franken L-R->

Sally Hansen Secrets / Maybelline Colorama Pink Pinata / Sally Hansen Carnivale / Sally Hansen Cobalt Seas. I'm afraid I don't know the ratios though, I just added each colour until I was happy with the result.

Till next time!
