NOTD: China Glaze Blue Year's Eve

Pin It Now!
On to the nail stuff!

I'm very happy to have found a display for the new upcoming China Glaze 2011 Let It Snow collection, but the only one that spoke to me was Blue Year's Eve, so I picked it up to show you all. I like this one so much, I hope you're ready for many photos, click on any of them to view larger.
In artificial light

This is the only blue in the whole collection, but if any of you have interest, here are the other colours.
Ok, back to Blue Year's Eve -outdoors in a bit of sun
This lacquer is quite exciting to me. It's a dark blue jelly with a blue foil finish and opaque on its own in about 2 to 3 layers. At times, it had a smidge of a pink flash in the bottle, but barely visible on the nail or in the photos.

In the close up of the bottle, you can really see the foily goodness!
In the shade

Someone suggested that it might look like China Glaze Frostbite and since I have it, here's the bottle comp for you, they're not the same.

Till next time!

NOTD: Sally Hansen Divinity

Pin It Now!
On to the nail stuff!

I don't wear nudes or neutrals often, or to be quite honest, not at all. The one time I did it is when I did my lace mani, see it HERE. The neutral I wore in that mani was one that I frankened, mainly because I couldn't really find one that was flattering on me. Today I have on Sally Hansen Divinity from the 2009 Tracy Reece collection.

All photos taken in the sun

In the bottle shot above you can really see the shimmer this one sports, it's quite pretty, especially on warm toned girls. I do think for me this one's too plain for me, so it might be in my swap pile soon, I'm sure someone will give it  a good home.

Models Own 2011 Beetlejuice collection

Pin It Now!

I also want to show you what's coming up soon, a new collection by Models Own, called Beetlejuice, it's ALL duochromes!! Oh yeah!! Maybe some companies are finally listening to us and are putting out some beautiful lacquers.

L-R-> Golden Green, Pinky Brown, Purple Blue, Aqua Violet, Emerald Black
These will be available in November, exclusively on the companies site, so visit www.modelsownit.com

Who's excited about these with me? I LOVE me some duochromes/multichromes! I this Golden Green could be Chanel Peridot's cousin, but we'll have to see it on the nail to be able to compare. Do any of the other ones look like dupes for something I can't remember right now?

Till next time!

NOTD: China Glaze TMI

Pin It Now!
On to the nail stuff!

Ever since I put on my first holographic lacquer on, I've been hooked. Oh that beautiful sparkly rainbow dancing on my nails! Today I have on China Glaze TMI, from the 2009 OMG collection.

This collection was released in 2 parts and this one is from the 2BHOT half. I used 2 coats without a top coat and although it seems to be a little bit less in your face type of holo, it's still very pretty. I've also tried to Konad with it and it works great, click HERE to see.

I wish to one day own the whole collection, but it's tough to find some of these unless you're willing to pay the prices of eBay. I'm curious, do any of you own the whole collection?

Till next time!

NOTD: Nfu Oh 53

Pin It Now!
On to the nail stuff!

It has been a while since I've layered a flakie lacquer on top of another and seeing as it's one of my favourite finishes, it's about time. I'm super happy to have received my first Nfu Oh lacquer in a swap recently, I told you about HERE
Nfu Oh 53

I just love the way flakes look in the bottle and on the nail. I'm not sure if it's the irregular size of them that I like or the fact that they shift colour depending on the angle of the light, but I think they're pretty and I can't wait to get more of these.

I know I should swatch it on its own but today I did 2 coats over this mani HERE

All photos are indoors with artificial lights and for those who are wondering how to get the flakes to show up in photos, place the lights behind your hand rather than shining them in front.

NOTD: Sally Hansen Midnight Sky

Pin It Now!
On to the nail stuff!

It's been a while since I've had a dark colour on my nails, so today I was in the mood to try Sally Hansen Midnight Sky. I got it recently as part of my haul, I showed you HERE in August.

I really like the formula on this one, I did 2 coats although it might be a one coater. I'm rather partial to the mix of silver shimmer within the base, making it a charcoal rather than a plain black.

NOTD: Nubar, Sally Hansen & Konad, oh my

Pin It Now!
On to the nail stuff!

Layering when doing a mani can be such a fun thing to do sometimes, especially when the end result isn't exactly what you expected. This mani is exactly that, a layering experiment. I started off with Nubar Pasadena Purple, you can see the whole mani HERE. I then tried Sally Hansen Jungle Orchid, which is a sheer lilac with blue flash to it. I stamped with Nina Ultra Pro Sailor with the design from Konad plate M70.

I like to include shots of the plates I use if I have them on hand, so that you don't have to look them up, this time I used Konad plate M70.
Till next time!

NOTD: GOSH Golden Dragon

Pin It Now!
On to the nail stuff!

Today I want to show you a lacquer that I got from a long time friend of mine, who visited me recently from the UK. She doesn't do make up or nail stuff much, so the mere fact that she picked THESE up for me was quite amazing. I've been waiting to put on GOSH Golden Dragon since I saw my friend and today was a dreary day that needed something cheerful on my nails.

GOSH Golden Dragon 564

The rain wouldn't let up today and I only had a chance take a couple of photos outside before it got too dark and my photos became blurry, so I've decided to not bother showing you those photos at all. These are all under artificial lights, but very true to colour.

This was 3 coats and I must say I'm really loving this one. Even though it's green, it has darker bluish undertones and lighter green ones, although it's not quite a duochrome. Also the golden shimmer adds a nice punch.
Below is my fave photo, it looks like it's glowing a little bit and since this was my first time trying GOSH lacquers, I'm wondering if they have others that are just as great. How many of you have tried them?

Till next time!

NOTD: China Glaze Sci-Fi

Pin It Now!
On to the nail stuff!

As of late, I've been quite partial to metallics. I know a lot of girls use nude or neutral toned lacquers to cleanse their palette but for some reason those types of shades just don't do it for me. So when I stare at my stash and am not sure what I'd like to wear next, I reach for a silver-ish metallic and I just love it. Let's look at what I have on today, China Glaze Sci-Fi.

When I first picked this lacquer up, I thought it was a silver, but I was wrong. China Glaze Sci-Fi looks very different in the bottle than it does on the nail. I find it to lean blue-ish in the bottle and then on the nail, it leans lavender and it dries lighter.

All photos taken outdoors, on a cloudy day

This one is from the China Glaze 2009 Khrome collection and it's great for Konad but I think it looks awesome on its own. I really do think it's great for a cleanser mani.  I'm curious, what colours do you girls wear to cleanse?

I think it might be only me, but at times this one still looked like a regular silver metallic to me, so I put it beside China Glaze Cheers To You, which is one of my faves and I think you can really see the difference.

 Till next time!
