On to the nail stuff!
The other day I bought a few lacquers from a dollar store and was happy to have picked up this silver for possible stamping designs. While going to another store, I put the bottles on the seat of my car, yes in the sun. Duh. I must have been gone for about 15 minutes and when I returned to my car, this is the sight I came back to. EEEEK!

I know it's been a hot summer and it does get even hotter in a car, but I didn't think it would get hot enough to have a bottle break/explode! Geez! This is the one time that I'm happy to say that I had papers and other stuff on my seat, because the lacquer spilled on the stuff and not my seat.
The visor insert that holds my cd's was not so lucky though, as you can see it got doused in lacquer. Yep, you do not want this happening to you. I still can't get the smell of lacquer out of my car!
So to all of you out there, do NOT leave bottles of lacquer in a hot car, even for a little bit! Have any of you had this type of thing happen before? Tell me how.
Till next time!

I left nail polish in the car in a compartment for over a week parked at the airport for 5 days, and nothing happened. But I did drop fingernail polish and some gym capris in a bag on the garage floor, now the polish is around the crotch area of the capris and I don't know how to get them out.
ReplyDeleteOh no! Looks like a pretty color too! I've never had that happen.
ReplyDeleteI've been checking the mail 2 hours early these past few weeks and my family keeps asking me why. This is why! The horror stories of nail mail exploding! Even with checking early they're pretty close. But, forgetful as I am I always leave them sitting in the car while I visit another store. Not happening any more!
ReplyDeleteSomething similar to this happened to me yesterday, it wasn't polish though. It was a bottle of acetone I picked up at Sally's and left in the back seat while I went into target. When I came back out the acetone expanded so much that I leaked out of the bottle. Luckily it was in th e plastic bag so it didn't get all over the seat!
ReplyDeleteJeez I did not know this could happen! I've never had a polish explode like that but I'll be careful in the future for sure!
ReplyDeleteThe amount of polish, and scent, I leave in may car, it's a miracle it hasn't happened to me (either that or I'm just lucky we've had such a rubbish summer in the UK this year). I'll tidy my car out tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteOh no! I am so scared of this happening. I hope you were able to save some of the polish, and of course I hope you were safe with all that broken glass!
ReplyDeleteomg! that stinks... literally!
ReplyDeleteWow, this has never happened to me, looks really messy!
ReplyDeleteAt least it's a pretty mess?;) Seriously though, thanks for the cautionary tale. I would have never thought about a bottle of nail polish exploding like that!
ReplyDeleteAmazingly this happened to me this weekend too. Only my bottle did not completely break. It is cracked all around up and down and crunchy, but somehow holding itself together. Totally weird! I couldn't believe it when I saw it and was second guessing myself that I had bought a bottle of broken polish (I know I hadn't bc I thoroughly look at each bottle before I buy just admiring the color. LOL!). Also, it was bought with 4 other polishes and they were in the store bag and placed under the seat for cautionary measures. The Sally Hansen Diamond was the only one that shattered. The other four are Revlon. When I touch the bottle or unscrew it I can hear crunching so I have put it in a sandwich bag for now. It's a gorgeous soft shimmering blue from the wedding collection and I super don't want to get rid of it. Sigh......
