NOTD: Fanny.Z neon

Pin It Now!
On to the nail stuff!

I know there have been many neon lacquers released by various companies for the past couple of years but I don't want to invest in them because it's a fad that comes and goes. But I did want to try an eye searing highlighter yellow type lacquer so I got this Fanny.Z unnamed bottle from a discount shop.
Photos taken outdoors on a cloudy day
I think most of you know that in order to get a neon to look the way it does in the bottle, you have to use white underneath, yes? In case you don't, that's the trick for neons, most of them are just too sheer on their own.
For this mani I used 2 coats of Sally Hansen White On, then one coat of Fanny.Z unnamed neon. The formula on the Fanny.Z is very sheer and has an interesting odour and yes, it's pretty eye searing. If you're not ready for your eyes to hurt when you look at your nails, don't try a neon like this one, yowza!
If you'd like to see the stamped neon zebra mani I did with this one as a base, click HERE.

I keep hearing from other girls with blogs that the best way to get neon colours accurate in the photos is to take them under water, so I tried it this time. I filled the bowl with water and the photo below is the result. Sorry about the air bubble.
Till next time!

  1. Great color. It's so funny that you took an underwater photo! I would be scared to drop my camera in the water.

    1. It's funny that you mention it, considering my last camera died an untimely death in the sea in Greece. I dropped it while taking scenery photos and that was the end of it. At least this time I had the strap around my wrist, so if it did drop, I could catch it.

  4. Oh lawdy, that sure is a bright color! Seems to be working well to photograph it under water? I heard it works well to do it with duochromes aswell, but still never tried it.

    1. Yep, neons and duochromes work well under water. I'll have to try shooting a duo under water next, I've yet to try it. I just make sure to do the photos on a cloudy day and angle the nails.
