Nail Polish spill on floor - GAH!

Pin It Now!
On to the nail stuff!

Now here's a thing to NOT do when you just wake up. If it's raining out, do not take photos of your haul on a 4 foot wall outside, then knock a bottle over  while trying to put them away quickly. Why? This is why. I accidentally knocked over one of the ones I was most excited about from my HAUL I showed you HERE, OPI Do You Lilac It? D'oh! I guess I won't be swatching this one anytime soon.

This is what the whole spill looks like on the ground, on the side of the stairs.
A close up of the carnage for you. Aaaah, pretty purple. By the way, this is not the first time I have spilled lacquer, so if you missed it, see how I spilled and cleaned up my laptop HERE.
This is the carnage of my nails after a good half hour of cleaning the floor with a rag and acetone. Yes, I tried Windex but apparently on a rock/concrete floor, it doesn't work. Have you had any spills like this? What did you clean them with?
Till next time!

  1. Oh, what a waste. The only polish bottle that broke when I dropped it was decent enough not to fall apart that way, so the spillage wasn't as bad and I cleaned it with acetone and a rough brush.

  4. oh poor OPI :( I did have a few breaks, just once when swatching, but there wasn't much spill so I don't have any tips about cleaning, just acetone with cotton pads.

  5. Oh no! At certain angles, I still see purple shimmer on the hardwood floor in my bedroom from an LA Girls polish that broke there. I didn't want to destroy the finish of the floor by attacking it with pure acetone, so wiped up as much as I could when it was wet and used a tiny bit of remover after to try and clean up the worst bits, quickly following with water, and putting wood polish on after.

  6. OMG! Luckily it never happened to me, I accidentally let some bottles fall but they didn't break *fiuuuu*
While in London, a girl let a polish fall in a shop and the lady cleaned it up with water. It was still liquid, though, and the floor wasn't rocky. Rocks do absorb..I haven't any idea on how to clean them...

  8. Oops was on my card making ID by accident ^^^^ LOL. No spills so far (knocking on wood, crossing fingers, throws salt over shoulder ha). Glad you didn't do this inside or cut yourself.

  9. Oh noooo...
I had one of those spills with a NFU Oh bottle while water marbling. Since then, I hate water marble :-)))
    Glad you didn't cut yourself!

  10. Oh man JUST today. *sigh* My 4 year old wanted her nails painted and was looking through my plastic bin thing and then knocked it over off the couch and onto the floor. TWO polishes busted. Luckily one was clear, but I didn't get it all out of the carpet. I guess we plan on replacing the carpet eventually before selling, but geesh I don't want a big polish stain there for years to come. And yeah I did acetone remover because I had an old bottle from a previous explosion on ceramic tile. I guess I need straight acetone to really get it clean. (Sorry that was a book of a comment!)
